What is Time Out Ohio?
ANSWER
Time Out Ohio is a partnership between the Ohio Casino Control Commission and the Ohio Lottery Commission that allows individuals to voluntarily agree to refrain from accessing Ohio’s casinos, Ohio’s racinos, and Ohio sports gaming.

Can I be forced to enroll in Time Out Ohio?
ANSWER
No. Time Out Ohio is a voluntary program. Once enrolled, an individual must agree to participate for the minimum duration of their selected term length.

Where can I enroll in Time Out Ohio?
ANSWER
You may complete an enrollment application via the Time Out Ohio Online Portal at www.TimeOutOhio.com, at any of the 4 Ohio casinos, the 7 Ohio Video Lottery Terminal facilities (racinos), and at the Ohio Casino Control Commission Central Office in downtown Columbus.

When can I enroll in the Time Out Ohio?
ANSWER
You may complete an enrollment application via the Time Out Ohio Online portal, the 4 Ohio casinos, the 7 Ohio racinos 24/7. You may also complete enrollment at the Ohio Casino Control Commission Central Office during normal business hours.

What will I be banned from?
ANSWER
Time Out Ohio allows an individual to complete an application to voluntarily agree to refrain from accessing or entering all banned facilities and all banned entities in the state of Ohio for a period of one year, five years, or a lifetime.
Banned entities and banned facilities are defined as the 4 Ohio casinos, the 7 Ohio Video Lottery Terminal facilities (racinos), all sports gaming facility sportsbooks, and all sports gaming conducted by sports gaming proprietors including all Lottery sports gaming products.
In addition, banned entity operators and excluded facility operators may have a corporate policy that will cause this ban to apply at other facilities or offerings they have in other states and countries. It is your responsibility to determine if any entity or facility has a policy that will ban them from playing at or visiting those other gaming entities or gaming facilities.

What information or documents do I need to enroll?
ANSWER
When completing an enrollment application using www.TimeOutOhio.com, you will need a camera-ready device, your government-issued ID, and your full social security number to be able to verify your identity.
When completing an enrollment application at one of the 4 Ohio casinos, one of the 7 Ohio racinos, or at the Ohio Casino Control Commission Central Office, Commission staff will first attempt to use the Time Out Ohio Online Portal using a provided camera-ready device. You would still need to provide your government-issued ID and your full social security number.
If you do not wish to disclose your social security number, Commission staff will make alternate arrangements to verify your identity.
QUESTION:
Why do you need a photo of me and a photo of my ID?
ANSWER
Due to the voluntary nature of the program, Commission staff must be able to verify your identity when enrolling in Time Out Ohio.
QUESTION:
Is Time Out Ohio confidential?
ANSWER
The Ohio Casino Control Commission and the Ohio Lottery Commission, as well as all banned entities and facilities, will comply with all rules protecting your confidentiality. However, the Commissions must release information regarding the Time Out Ohio to all banned entities and facilities so that the Commissions and the banned entities and facilities can help you fulfill your commitment to refrain from gambling. Accordingly, the Commissions cannot guarantee the confidentiality of the information once the information has been shared.
Additionally, the Commissions may disclose anonymized information from the Time Out Ohio to research entities for the purpose of evaluating the effectiveness of and ensuring the proper administration of the Voluntary Program.

How long am able to ban myself?
ANSWER
The term lengths for the Time Out Ohio are for the minimum duration of 1 year, for the minimum duration of 5 years, and for a lifetime.

What happens to my current points, comps, or promo credits when I enroll?
ANSWER
To enroll in the Time Out Ohio, you must agree to forfeit all points, complimentaries, and promotional credits at any of the 4 Ohio casinos, the 7 Ohio racinos, and any Ohio sports gaming proprietor.
Due to corporate policies from banned operators, points, complimentaries, and promotional credits at a banned operator’s other facilities or offerings in other states and countries may also be forfeited.
QUESTION:
I am planning on traveling. Can I gamble outside of Ohio?
ANSWER
Banned operators may have a corporate policy that will cause this ban to apply at other facilities or offerings they have in other states and countries. It is your responsibility to determine if any entity or facility has a policy that will ban you from playing at or visiting those other gaming entities or gaming facilities.

Can I re-enroll before my ban period ends?
ANSWER
Yes. You may re-enroll in the Time Out Ohio at any time given that your most recent enrollment application requires that your serve the minimum duration of your previously selected term length. (For example, if you completed an application for a 5-year term, you would not be eligible to submit a new application for an additional 1 year term until you had less than 1 year remaining).
You may complete an enrollment application via the Time Out Ohio Online Portal at www.TimeOutOhio.com at any of the 4 Ohio casinos, at any of the 7 Ohio racinos, and at the Ohio Casino Control Commission Central Office in downtown Columbus.

QUESTION:
I signed up for the Voluntary Exclusion Program (Ohio VEP) before January 1, 2023. Can I enroll in Time Out Ohio before my exclusion period ends to include sports gaming in my ban?
ANSWER
Yes. If your current Ohio VEP enrollment application was completed before January 1, 2023, you may enroll in Time Out Ohio to include sports gaming and select any term you choose (1 year, 5 years, or a lifetime). Your new term length will supersede your previously selected term length. and you will be banned from 4 Ohio casinos, the 7 Ohio racinos, all sports gaming facilities, and all sports gaming conducted by sports gaming proprietors.
QUESTION:
I don’t have an email address. How can I get access to my account on the Time Out Ohio online portal?
ANSWER
If you wish to be able to access your information via the online portal after you have completed the enrollment process, you must register using a valid email address. If you do not currently have an email address, you can register for a free email account using a common email provider such as:
Yahoo: https://mail.yahoo.com
Gmail: https://mail.google.com
Outlook: https://outlook.live.com
If you do not wish to use an email address, you may still enroll; however, you will not be able to access your information via the online portal after completing the enrollment process and instead will need to contact the Commission offices for information regarding your enrollment. A temporary sign in will be created to complete the enrollment process.
QUESTION:
What happens if I violate the terms of Time Out Ohio?
ANSWER
If you are discovered at a banned facility or banned entity after enrolling in Time Out Ohio, you must surrender any money or thing of value that you convert or attempt to convert into a wagering instrument (such as jackpots, slot tickets, TITOs, chips) and any winnings gained from these. These surrendered funds will be used to fund state problem gambling and addictions services.
Upon your discovery, you will be removed, and you may be charged with criminal trespassing.
QUESTION:
I need to be able access a banned entity or enter a banned facility to perform my required job duties. Am I still able to enroll in the Time Out Ohio? What should I do?
ANSWER
Current and future employees and those who are required to access banned facilities for the purposes of performing required job duties are eligible to enroll in Time Out Ohio.
If you are a current participant in Time Out Ohio, please contact the applicable Commission to request limited access for the purpose of performing required job duties.
QUESTION:
What happens if a banned facility or banned entity does not stop me from entering?
ANSWER
All actions that either the Commissions or the banned entities or facilities may take are incentives that you are asking the Commissions and the banned entities and facilities use to help you fulfill your commitment to refrain from gambling. These actions are not a guarantee that any party, including the Commissions, can physically prevent you from gambling via banned entities or facilities.
QUESTION:
Am I automatically removed from Time Out Ohio after the banned period?
ANSWER
At the end of the applicable banned period, you are not automatically removed from Time Out Ohio, and you will need to complete a request for removal application and receive notification of its approval before returning to any banned facility or banned entity.
Requests for removal applications can be completed via the Time Out Ohio Portal or requested from either Commission after you serve the minimum duration of their selected term length.

How can I find out if I am eligible to request removal?
ANSWER
If you have created an account on the Time Out Ohio Online Portal, you can access your information, including your eligibility to request removal, on the Time Out Ohio Online Portal.
If you do not have an account, and you wish to access your information, you can create an account at www.TimeOutOhio.com.
If you do not wish to create an account, you may contact the Commissions at timeout@ohio.gov to inquire about your eligibility to request removal.

I am not ready to enroll in Time Out Ohio. What other things can I do to limit myself?
ANSWER
The 4 Ohio casinos, the 7 Ohio Video Lottery Terminal facilities (racinos), all sports gaming facilities, and all sports gaming proprietors have options to prevent you from receiving direct marketing through mail and email and options to prevent you from receiving credit. You must contact the operator(s) directly to enroll in these options.
Sports gaming mobile management service providers allow you to set limits on time and money spent, deposits and wager amounts, and other limit setting options directly inside of the app. Please direct any questions to the specific sports gaming proprietor with which you wish to set limits.
